What you need to know:
Under current state law, new electric vehicle manufacturers, like Tesla, that have chosen to sell their vehicles directly to the customers and not through a middleman, are blocked from opening licensed sales locations in South Carolina.
H.3777 would modernize South Carolina’s dealer laws to allow manufacturers of electric vehicles with no franchise dealers in South Carolina to own and operate their own dealerships in the state.
This bill will give the people of South Carolina the freedom to purchase their vehicle in their own state, as well as encourage innovative companies to bring jobs and revenue to the state. Tesla’s direct-to-consumer model allows us to provide customers with consistent and transparent pricing regardless of where someone lives. The bill will increase revenue and jobs in the state, by opening the state to competition and providing consumer choice to South Carolinians.
Using the tools above, please send a message to your legislators and legislative leadership letting them know what this bill means to you and why it is good for South Carolina. Tell them your story as a Tesla owner in South Carolina and let them know that you Support H.3777.
