Hi! My name is CJ Myers. I am a Tesla Model 3 owner with a 5.5 kW Tesla solar panel system. I live in Camden-Wyoming, DE and have been a Delaware resident for the last 5 years. I am originally from Lansdale and Newtown, PA. I graduated from Penn State in 2012 as an Energy Engineer and am now the manager of metering for Delaware Electric Cooperative, a non-profit utility for the bottom half of Delaware.
What I feel makes my “Tesla Story” unique was that before moving to Delaware, I was an Electrical Engineer in Oklahoma working for wind farms, pipelines, and oil refineries. I even spent 8 months working on the infamous Keystone XL pipeline. When I moved to Delaware and I needed to purchase a new car since my Silverado stayed in Oklahoma. I was intrigued by EVs mainly because of the engineering and technology of the electric drivetrain. I started with a Chevy Volt and the more I drove it, the more I wanted to stay on electric power. At one point I drove over 10,000 miles on electric without the gas engine turning on.
When I got a job promotion at work, I broke the news to my wife by telling her we were test driving a Tesla tomorrow. We subsequently traded-in the Volt and have been loving the Model 3 since.
Along with the Delaware Valley Tesla Owners Club, I am also the Vice-President of the Delaware Electric Vehicle Association, DEEVA. The club focuses on outreach and education to advance all types of electric vehicle ownership in Delaware. I am excited to be the Chapter Leader in Delaware and will hopefully increase participation and bring more events to Delaware.
If you live in the state of Delaware, please reach out to CJ by email to Delaware@DVTO.club to find out more about the club and ways to get involved.
